Hamilton takes sensational pole in Suzuka Qualifying

Lewis Hamilton has taken a SENSATIONAL pole for tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix, with Valterri Bottas 2nd and Vettel 3rd.

Q1 ended early due to a crash from Romain Grosjean, Valterri Bottas came close to the barriers after losing it out of the second Degna whilst behind his team mate. Stroll got frustrated with Perez who seemed to hold the Canadian up.

Grosjean, Gasly, Stroll, Ericsson and Wehrlein took no further part in qualifying.

A little less drama in Q2, however through 130r Lewis Hamilton seemed to get in the way of Felipe Massa, with the Brazilian then slowing and doing the same to Lewis in the chichane.

Vandoorne, Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Palmer and Sainz didn’t make it into the top ten.

What would Q3 have in store? Would Hamilton get pole or will Vettel have a tenth up his sleeve?

Well, it was Lewis Hamilton who got his 71st pole position with a 1.27.319, a new lap record!

Bottas was Second but has a five place grid penalty meaning Sebastian Vettel will join the Brit on the front row with Ricardo and Verstappen behind.
