Hamilton takes pole in wet Monza qualifying, nightmare for Ferrari

Well, today yet again Hamilton has shown his talent behind the wheel when he broke the all-time record for pole positions in the qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix. He took the 69th of his career with an astonishing performance in wet Monza.

Even though the conditions were terrible and the first session was suspended following a crash from Grosjean and appalling conditions, the session didn’t restart for another 2 hours and 40 minutes. Hamilton was an exceptional 1.148 seconds quicker than Verstappen, but Vettel was left in a shocking 8th place!

I know its not really shocking after he did it last week too but its still great to see Hamilton living up to explectations of fans worldwide.

However, even though Vettel came 8th in the qualifying, he will be starting in 6th place due to grid penilties given to Verstappen and team-mate Ricciardo, who came in 3rd.

Due to Hamilton’s pole, it moves him one ahead of the Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher which as we all know is a performance that is worthy of such great achievement and praise.

Here is the provisional grid for the Italian Grand Prix (before penalties applied):

  1. Lewis Hamilton  (Mercedes)
  2. Max Verstsppen (Red Bull)
  3. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull)
  4. Lance Stroll (Williams)
  5. Esteban Ocon (Force India)
  6. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes)
  7. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari)
  8. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari)
  9. Felipe Massa (Williams)
  10. Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren)
  11. Sergio Perez (Force India)
  12. Nico Hulkenberg (Renault)
  13. Fernando Alonso (McLaren)
  14. Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso)
  15. Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso)
  16. Kevin Magnussen (Haas)
  17. Jolyon Palmer (Renault)
  18. Marcus Ericsson (Sauber)
  19. Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber)
  20. Romain Grosjean (Haas)

It will certainly be a brilliant Italian Grand Prix!
